In order to achieve this, the construction programme is split into smaller units or cells and is largely dug into a raised surface level. This will make it possible to have just a small part of the programme, in the form of free-standing pavilions, physically in the park, with the roof of the sports centre forming part of the surrounding countryside. Daylight and views are provided by patios and inner courtyards.
In addition to the sports complex and outdoor sports facilities the plan also includes a proposal for the layout of the site of which the complex forms part. As is the case with the functional recreational programme, the site has been divided into programmed elements, such as water, a lawn, a group of trees, semi-paved area or outdoor patio. The various programmed elements form a quilt that spreads across the entire site measuring 2.5 hectares.
The total programme comprises 6.800 m2 gross for buildings and 8.800 m2 for outdoor sports facilities, consisting of four outdoor tennis courts, two beach volleyball courts, canoe hire and a jogging track on the roof of the complex. Of the indoor programme 78% takes place under the raised, laid surface area.
