81 dwellings

In the development area the Kersenboogerd in Hoorn a design has been made for 81 houses and the layout of the outer spaces. As parking is provided on the outskirts of the neighbourhood this produces a car-free area in the heart of the neighbourhood onto which the houses adjoin.

Within the three-level houses on the edges of the plan there is the possibility of living either on the ground or on the first floor. Due to the clustering of these different house types, varying block facades are produced whereby the individuality of the houses is subordinated to the expression of the facade of the entire building block.

The expressiveness of the stone facade is emphasised in the detailed work. Recesses can, for example, be placed in front of the facades as bay windows or even set back with deep ridges.
