Delivery Vredesplein Phase 1
13.11.2014

Recently, the construction of Phase 1 of the Vredeplein project in Eindhoven has been delivered. For the first phase, JSA has designed nine detached houses and one patio dwelling. The houses are characterized by a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional roofs that were originally dominant in the neighbourhood. A variable eaves line gives the block a distinctive sculptural form.

The area around Vredesplein is subject to an ambitious restructuring of the neighbourhood. In consequent phases, the existing working-class houses built in the early twentieth century will be demolished and replaced by 450 new houses and apartments. JSA is responsible for the design of 91 of those houses. The future residents have been involved in the development of the layout of the houses in the form of workshops.

In the meantime, the development of Phase 2 has started. Apart from eleven detached houses, JSA will design a ‘special’ on the corner of Woenselse Markt: a building block with a bar or cafeteria on the ground floor and four apartments on the higher floors.
