Recently, JSA has completed the definitive design for the renovation of the Maassluis Museum. JSA has won the competition for this project back in 2010. At the beginning of 2013, the Museum has become independent and the plans for the renovation were reactivated.
The museum is located at the Zuiddijk in Maassluis, and is part of a conservation area. The existing entrance will be rebuilt completely. In the interior, the ‘Dijkzaal’ – the main exposition hall on the ground floor – is renovated. The garden wall will be replaced by a new construction, matching visually with the new entrance.
On May 16, 2014, Maassluis will celebrate its 400th birthday as an independent city. The renovation of the Museum will be finished before this centenary.
